Over the past 40 years the Milford Haven waterway has developed into one of the largest refining centres in Europe and is home to oil industry majors, Chevron and Total, together with the storage operation of Semlogistics. In response to industry challenges and demands, local suppliers and contractors have the specialist skills, expertise, resources and innovative techniques to serve the downstream oil industry. They have developed best working practices that comply with the highest safety standards of their clients. Plant expansions, turnarounds, unplanned outages and turnkey projects have been successfully supported by this local supply base.
The Haven, now the 5th largest port in Europe, is enjoying a 2 billion expansion programme and by the end of 2008 will see the completion of two LNG regasification plants with the potential capacity of 24 million tones per annum. The construction and operation of LNG terminals in Milford Haven are bringing new challenges to the local supply base and many of our clients have already repositioned themselves to service these new markets and the principal LNG developers such as Exxon Mobil, QatarGas and BG Group. Several have already secured multi-million pound sub-contracts for aspects such as pipe fabrication and tank building. The collaboration between local companies and world class market leaders such as CB&I, BeSix Kiers, Whessoe Oil and Gas, Foster Wheeler, Amec, Aker Kvaerner and Costain is testimony to the capabilities of our clients.
